Formerly known as a dancer for the Seattle Super Sonic basketball team, American Sarah Emerson is more recently known as a songwriter (most notably for her hymn-like song “What Joy” that can currently be heard sung in churches all over the world) and now as a recording artist– recording her first full length album last year as a benefit project for an orphanage in Uganda raising over 11k to date.
Performing all over Seattle, in the style of Colbie Caillat meets Cival Wars she and her loop guitarist, Jon, bring a modern and tasteful blend of acoustically driven pop, folk, and singer/songwriter styles of covers and originals to captivate your ears and entrance your hearts.
The band will also be displaying paintings by local artists that will be available for sale along with Sarah and Jon’s cd… all proceeds benefitting Destiny Orphanage.
Brazil Novo recreates the era of classic Bossa Nova for fans of Tom Jobim, Joao Gilberto, Caetano Veloso, and Stan Getz. Led by Puerto Rican trumpeter Michel Navedo singing in Portuguese and improvising with his mellow, soulful tone, the group strives to stay true to the roots of Brazilian urban music. Featuring instrumentation reflective of the time, the Classical guitar and upright bass offer a sublime acoustic atmosphere, while subtle; samba infused percussion recreates the seductive groove that made Bossa Nova famous.
