BLOG: WWW.NIGHTNIGHTNIGHT.COM Chamber vs. Chamber – Despite classical chamber music’s decades-long residence on the outskirts of popular relevance, “indie” rock musicians like The Decemberists, Grizzly Bear, and Loch Lomond are breathing new life into chamber instruments and classical music sensibility. * Chamber vs. Chamber sparks a dialogue between these two related musical universes and combine classical chamber performances with indie rock darlings. Each Chamber vs. Chamber evening includes multiple performances and conversation between the musicians and leaders in the classical and indie rock canon. NEXT EVENT: A Sunday coming soon.... Penthouse Symposium – Guests gather in the Sorrento's seventh floor penthouse, glasses will be filled, bellies will be sated, and a late night of conversation will begin. Guests are encouraged to participate in dialogue during a symposium. A fee of $50 includes a hearty stew, whiskey and wine to be shared, and a copy of the authors latest book. Guests who wish to explore additional spirits are encouraged to bring bottles to share with the group. Despite the hour suggested in the name, these events will begin around 7.30 p.m. and are expected to stretch into the midnight hour. 12 Books – In partnership with Elliot Bay Book Company and University Book Store, the Sorrento Hotel established a small bookstore in the Sorrento lobby. Hotel guests can order books as a room service option. Selections reflect a sampling of books that are being published or written in or about the Northwest. Content of the selections touch on hotels, public/private space, and authors that collaborate with the Sorrento to host readings, symposiums, and various literary happenings. Drinking Lessons – The popular series, which has already featured Ryan Magarian and Murray Stenson, continues as several more of the country’s leading bartenders and drink historians take up residence at the Hunt Club bar. Each date includes two sessions – 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Those unable to attend can follow all classes online with real-time documentation by www.foodista.com/nightschool. Drinking Lesson guests can expect an animated two hour lesson in the preparation and history of three distinct cocktails.Plus a bite to eat from the HUnt Club kitchen.
