Also within a stroll from the Sorrento Hotel is the Frye Art Museum, established in 1952 in the names of Charles and Emma Frye, who were renowned art collectors. Their collection of late-nineteenth century and early-twentieth century European art is on permanent display in addition to other notable traveling exhibits. The Frye offers Tea and Tours, where visitors receive a guided tour and then sit down to discuss the art over tea. There also are classes, lectures, as well as the popular Saturday studio sessions. |
The Sorrento Hotel is blocks from downtown Seattle, WA, where visitors might duck into local clothing boutiques or visit the flagship Nordstrom store. Our concierges would be pleased to share a list of preferred boutiques for the discerning shopper. We also partner with Seattle Theatre Group, which presents concerts, musicals and other arts performances at the Paramount and the Moore theatres. SIFF offers film programming throughout the year and one of the largest film festivals in the nation in June. Sorrento Hotel is pleased to offer specials rates and discounts to members of these organizations. |
Spend a day gallery hopping in Pioneer Square or participate in a First Thursday art walk. Known as 1T, it is considered Seattle’s first organized art walk. For history buffs, the Klondike Gold Rush Historic Park offers a great opportunity to learn about the 1897-1898 push to get to the Yukon gold fields. (Quirky fact: Because the museum has a national park designation, staffers wear ranger uniforms.) Hipsters will enjoy exploring Capitol Hill’s edgy clothing and furnishings shops or people watching at any number of cafes or trendy Seattle eateries on Pike Pine. The neighborhood is also home to Seattle’s LGBT community and the city’s annual Pride activities. Capitol Hill is where you’ll find our favorite cupcake bakery, Cupcake Royale. |
